Excavator Operator at ABC Recycling

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our growing team. This position plays a key role in supporting daily warehouse operations and ensuring accurate, timely shipment of automotive parts. The ideal candidate will have experience managing heavy equipment, sorting scrap metal, loading/unloading materials, and maintaining a clean and safe yard environment. Knowledge of automobile parts or mechanical components is strongly preferred. Familiarity with ferrous vs. non-ferrous materials is preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate excavators safely and efficiently to move, load, and sort scrap metal and recyclable parts.Use attachments such as grapples, buckets, or magnets to handle various materials.Load trucks, containers, and processing equipment with precision.Assist in breaking down or separating metal components as needed.Follow all company, OSHA, and equipment safety procedures.Sort incoming scrap metal and automotive parts by type, material, and condition.Move materials throughout the yard to designated areas for processing, storage, or resale.Communicate load requirements with yard staff and drivers.QualificationsMust have valid driver’s license.Must have own vehicle.Proven experience operating an excavator (must have a minimum 1 year, –2 years preferred).Ability to safely operate heavy machinery in a busy scrap yard environment.Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to safety.Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.Ability to lift 50-75 lbs. as needed and work in a physically active environment (i.e., standing for extended periods of time, bending, and stooping).Work performed outdoors in hot, cold, or inclement weather.Why Join Our Team?Competitive payStable, full-time positionSupportive team environmentOpportunities for growth within the organizationCompany DescriptionABC Recycling, Inc. is a family-oriented, customer-focused business committed to providing exceptional scrap-metal recycling services.
