We are tasked with staffing The Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Inpatient and Outpatient departments (NMCP) with Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMET).Work Schedule: Shifts will normally be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 0600 and 1630 for an eight and a half (8.5) hour period, to include an uncompensated 30-minute meal break. Workers are not required to work on federally recognized holidays. Currently NMC Portsmouth has over 13,400 pieces of medical equipment, to include defibrillators, pumps, wound vacuums and ventilators. Under minimal supervision, provide expert-level experience in the repair, calibration, and maintenance of medical equipment, instrumentation and support systems used at NMCP and its outlying clinics. Respond to service calls within the hospital as assigned. Evaluate, diagnose, and perform repair and planned maintenance on biomedical equipment, providing service to drive customer satisfaction and patient safety. Requirements:Degree/Education: An associate degree in biomedical equipment technology; engineering required; OR Participant in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; OR High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician required.
