Position Summary
The Body Shop Estimator evaluates vehicle damage, prepares accurate repair estimates, works closely with insurance adjusters, and supports the Body Shop Manager with administrative and reporting tasks. This role plays a critical part in customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and timely repair completion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Inspect damaged vehicles to assess structural, body, mechanical, and interior damage
Prepare detailed repair estimates for labor and parts
Determine repair versus replacement feasibility and total loss valuations
Establish and maintain strong relationships with insurance adjusters and customers
Review estimates with Body Shop Manager or Foreman and resolve discrepancies
Prepare and submit insurance documentation and final repair billings
Monitor work-in-process, parts availability, and vehicle completion timelines
Follow up with customers regarding repair status as needed
Maintain accurate documentation, billing, and accounts receivable
Greet all HMC clients professionally and assist with incoming calls
Monitor productivity reports and payroll records
Perform additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Technical school or college coursework preferred
24 years of related estimating or collision repair experience preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Required Skills & Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read and interpret technical, insurance, and business documents
Solid math skills, including percentages, ratios, and basic algebra
Strong problem-solving and reasoning abilities
Excellent customer service and organizational skills
