JOB DESCRIPTION
Bookkeeper
The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing project financials, tracking costs, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring accurate data flow between field operations and accounting systems.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track project costs against budgets.
- Identify cost variances and work with project managers to address issues.
- Maintain up-to-date job cost reports.
- Utilize QuickBooks for job costing, invoicing, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate coding of expenses, labor, and materials.
- Perform monthly reconciliations for project financials with company accounting records.
- Assist in developing project budgets and cost projections.
- Update forecasts based on actual costs and project progress.
- Support cash flow planning and financial management.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project financial reports.
- Provide insights on cost performance and profitability.
- Support leadership with financial data for decision-making.
- Assist with Work in Progress (W.I.P.) reporting.
- Track contract values, change orders, and billing status.
- Ensure all approved changes are reflected in project budgets and QuickBooks.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, field staff, and accounting to ensure timely and accurate flow of financial information from the field.
Essential Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in construction project controls, accounting, or project administration.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks.
- Experience with job costing in a construction environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for budgeting, tracking, and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

We are a growing construction company with approximately $5M in annual revenue, focused on delivering high-quality projects with strong financial discipline and operational efficiency. The role offers a competitive salary based on experience, performance-based bonuses, paid time off, and holidays. Although we do not offer health benefits, there is an opportunity for growth within the company. The work culture is laid-back, with a dress code of jeans and a shirt. You may visit job sites occasionally, but this is infrequent. The office is 25 minutes from West Omaha, and there is the option to work from home one day a week. Standard working hours are from 8 AM to 4 PM, with flexibility for family commitments. The work environment is a small office setting, and the company values family priorities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colon, NE.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $28.84/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
