JOB DESCRIPTION

Bookkeeper

We are seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to manage all aspects of the company's financial records. In this role, you maintain and process financial transactions, prepare and analyze financial reports, and reconcile accounts using both an ERP system and QuickBooks. You play a key part in supporting accurate financial reporting and effective budgeting for a steel fabrication operation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the company's financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness in the general ledger.
  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes through the ERP system and transfer data into QuickBooks.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to support management decision-making.
  • Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis to help control costs and support financial planning.
  • Utilize financial software, including QuickBooks, to record, process, and track transactions efficiently.
  • Maintain organized financial documentation and records to support audits and reporting requirements.
  • Apply technical accounting principles to daily transactions and reporting activities.
  • Support tax preparation and reporting by providing accurate financial data and documentation.
  • Use Microsoft Excel to create and manage spreadsheets for financial tracking, reporting, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial information and respond to inquiries as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper or in a similar bookkeeping or accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of technical accounting principles and their application to day-to-day financial activities.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation and reporting processes.
  • Hands-on experience with financial software such as QuickBooks.
  • Ability to manage accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform thorough bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for creating and managing financial spreadsheets.
  • Solid bookkeeping skills, including general ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in accounting beyond bookkeeping responsibilities is a plus.
  • Experience working with ERP systems for financial transaction processing.
  • Strong data entry skills with a focus on speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and present findings clearly.
  • Capability to support budgeting and financial planning activities.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.

Work Environment

This position is based onsite within a steel fabricating company environment. You work in a professional office setting integrated with industrial operations, using financial software such as QuickBooks and an ERP system, along with Microsoft Excel and other standard office tools. The role involves regular collaboration with operations and administrative staff in a fast-paced, detail-oriented workplace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $31.25/hr.
