Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, we thrive on building communities, building teams, building leaders, and growing the business throughout the Southeast region with offices in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama.About the RoleThe Project Engineer provides administrative and technical support across scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration. In partnership with Project Managers and Superintendents, Project Engineers contribute to overall project oversight and may be assigned responsibility for specific project components, subcontractors, or scopes of work.This role plays a critical part in supporting project execution, documentation, coordination, and closeout activities while developing a strong foundation in construction operations and leadership.Core ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & CoordinationAssist in the development of project plans as requested.Support the development, updating, and maintenance of project schedules and subcontractor detail schedules.Monitor and expedite material deliveries, ensuring alignment with the project schedule.Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in drawing coordination and document flow.Subcontractor & Cost ManagementCollaborate with Project Managers on purchasing activities, including scoping and take-offs.Administer subcontracts as assigned.Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.Perform scope take-offs and assist with cost estimating.Draft and support change order documentation.Document Control & Technical SupportPrepare, review, and forward submittals.Confirm submittals comply with project plans and specifications.Serve as a point person for document management applications and systems.Assist in maintaining accurate and organized project records.Project Closeout & DevelopmentSupport project closeout activities, including assembling O&M manuals, warranties, and turnover documentation for owners.Assist with preparation of final payment documents for subcontractors.Participate in and, as appropriate, lead training sessions to support project and team development.QualificationsUndergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.35 years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar role within the construction industry (civil contractor experience preferred).Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Working knowledge of Primavera preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-related software systems.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Strong team orientation, reliability, and passion for the construction industry.Core CompetenciesValues & LeadershipExemplifies RNGDs core values: Renegade Mentality, Sweep Floors, Build Together, Honor Promises.Demonstrates accountability, reliability, and professionalism in daily work; listens actively; remains approachable; and contributes positively to team culture.Strategic Thinking & PlanningDemonstrates a systematic and organized approach to project tasks, documentation, and coordination.Accurately estimates task duration and level of effort; anticipates potential project challenges; and proactively supports Project Managers and Superintendents in maintaining schedule and budget alignment.Emotional Intelligence & Relationship BuildingBuilds strong working relationships with project teams, subcontractors, and internal partners through clear communication and emotional awareness.Demonstrates the ability to receive feedback, manage competing priorities, and navigate job-site dynamics constructively.Analytical Thinking & Decision-MakingUses facts, drawings, specifications, and project data to support informed decision-making.Synthesizes information from multiple sources; identifies discrepancies or risks; and escalates issues appropriately to support sound project outcomes.RNGD is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
