JOB DESCRIPTION
Buyer
The Buyer is responsible for selecting and ordering raw materials from vendors, monitoring pricing, costs, and quality to determine the best vendor selection. This role involves interacting with carriers to arrange transportation of raw materials, verifying the quantity and quality of materials received, and entering information into the ERP system.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate all vendor return issues as communicated from QA.
- Negotiate costs with transportation in cases of rejected parts for rework.
- Authorize payment of invoices.
- Run production schedules for Plant 1, 2, EA, and EMT and email to appropriate internal contacts.
- Attend production meetings to distribute job travelers and make necessary machine and work center changes to schedules.
- Release new jobs to production.
- Review and approve PPAPV operations on travelers and complete 'Job Adjustment' in ERP system.
- Develop and implement procedures for subcontractor operations and incoming raw materials.
- Maintain contact with suppliers with past delivery problems to ensure timely delivery.
- Review issued purchase orders to determine their relation to current job status.
- Email weekly reports on parts past due.
- Email weekly contract review reports to appropriate company divisions.
- Update and maintain Business Contact Manager with supplier information.
- Review freight classification errors/inconsistencies for billing accuracy.
- Complete Conflict Minerals Report for designated customers.
- Conduct buyer responsibilities and tasks according to established ISO procedures.
Essential Skills
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, and buyer purchasing.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective communication skills before groups of customers or employees.
- Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning skills to apply common sense understanding to instructions furnished in various forms.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- One-year certificate from college or technical school.
- Three to six months related experience and/or training.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment
The position operates within a machine shop environment with onsite hours from 7 AM to 4 PM or 8 AM to 5 PM. The role requires comfort with going on the shop floor and involves physical demands such as sitting, handling objects, and occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menomonee Falls, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $31.25/hr.
