JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title

The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and services required to support business operations. This role coordinates with internal departments and suppliers to ensure timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and inventory availability while maintaining accurate purchasing records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify purchase requests, specifications, and material requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and determine replenishment needs.
  • Source materials and services from suppliers, obtaining pricing, lead times, and product specifications.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders.
  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing, deliveries, and inventory transactions.
  • Track orders and follow up with suppliers regarding delivery schedules and late shipments.
  • Compare supplier pricing, quality, and delivery performance to support purchasing decisions.
  • Coordinate outsourced and outside processing activities with vendors.
  • Review supplier invoices against purchase orders and pricing agreements for accuracy.
  • Assist in managing purchasing priorities and ensuring materials are available to support production schedules.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve supply chain or purchasing issues.

Ideal Candidate

  • 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, customer service, order management, or supply chain experience.
  • Comfortable working with suppliers and negotiating lead times and pricing.
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or supply chain experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze pricing, inventory, and supplier data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP, inventory management, or manufacturing software preferred.
  • Ability to utilize databases and purchasing systems effectively.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Tinley Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr. Benefits benefits benfits benfits.
