Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCafé Cook / ManagerWe are looking for a hands-on and community-minded Café Cook/Manager to lead daily operations at our small, low volume café at Clarendon Hill Towers in Somerville, MA. The café serves residents and employees. This is a solo position, ideal for someone who enjoys wearing many hats—from cooking and food prep to managing inventory, ensuring compliance, and welcoming guests with a friendly smile. The right candidate will take pride in preparing simple, but high-quality meals while keeping the café running smoothly and efficiently. The Café Cook / Manager will be an employee of FHRC Management Corporation (“FHRC”).Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare and cook daily menu items, ensuring quality, consistency, and food safety.Manage café operations, including opening and closing duties, customer service, and maintaining cleanliness.Order, receive, and manage inventory of food, beverages, and supplies.Maintain compliance with Somerville and Massachusetts health and safety standards, including ServSafe guidelines.Handle basic bookkeeping tasks such as balancing the register and tracking sales.Keep equipment, kitchen, and front-of-house areas clean and organized.FHRC may change or modify your duties and responsibilities at its sole discretion.Skills and Experience:1-2 years’ experience working in a kitchen or café setting.Strong time management and organizational skills—comfortable running the show solo.ServSafe Food Handler certification required and compliance with all Somerville and Massachusetts safety regulations.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform basic physical tasks related to cooking and cleaning.Friendly, dependable, and self-motivated with attention to detail.Flexibility and sense of humor.Current driver’s license in good standing.Additional Details:Job Type: Full time; 40 hours per weekCompensation: $20.00-$22.75 per hourSchedule: 6:30am-3:30pm Monday through Friday, 1 hour lunchWork location: In-personBenefits: 401(k) with company match, flexible spending account, medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, paid time off.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate in hiring or employment based on race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity and expression, marital status, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic prohibited by federal, state, or local law.
