Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: 12.50Prep Cook is an essential role of Camp Harvest and Cultivate Churches Ministry whose mission is to create life-changing experiences through extended trips and intentional relationships rooted in Jesus, focused on worship, teaching, encouragement, adventure, and rest. This position reports to the Head Cook and is responsible for assisting head cooks, by preparing ingredients, making side dishes and salads ready for special events and regular meal service. This role is primarily seasonal with occasional opportunities throughout the off-season.Essential Roles & Responsibilities:Maintain safety and cleanliness standards for department by following all standard operating procedures to conform to local, state, federal and insurance regulationsFollow the prep list created by a lead cook to accomplish duties in a timely mannerLabel and stock all ingredients on shelves so they are organized and easily accessibleAbility to follow recipes by ensuring the proper measurements of ingredients and seasonings to be used in cookingPrepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees and other menu items assignedMaintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash and other kitchen tasks assignedEnsure all food and other items are stored properly per food codePrepare ingredients to use in cooking, which may include chopping, peeling, and cutting using kitchen equipment and utensilsPerform other duties as assignedEducational Requirements:Less Than High School: Work permit is required if applicant is under 18 years of ageWork Experience Requirements:Experience in a commercial kitchen or restaurant is preferredKnowledge of basic cooking techniquesOther Skills and Qualifications:Willing and able to follow directions with a good attitudeAbility to explain What Cultivate Churches Ministry believesAbility to pray with other employees or guestsActively engaged in a local churchAbility to work in a teamGood communication skillsPhysically able to be on feet for a full shiftMust be able to work weekends, holidays, and eveningsAbility to anticipate needs and be proactiveAbility to take initiative to complete tasks independently
