Job Duties:The Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) Public Safety Department is seeking to hire a Campus Safety Officer from this posting. The incumbent in this position will provide a secure environment for clients staff and visitors; perform preventive patrols and preliminary and follow-up investigations as requested by Administration of complaints incidents and policy violations; and maintain effective patrols for the security of the buildings and grounds.The officer will respond to public requests for emergency and non-emergency services; assist with traffic direction control vehicle registration and enforcement of parking regulations. The incumbent will provide emergency assistance and serve as a liaison with other emergency agencies.This position includes assisting with emergency drills the management of the emergency notification system and serving on safety committees. The incumbent in this position will collaborate on emergency preparedness and incident reporting participate in emergency preparedness drills contribute to safety planning and document all incidents accurately through detailed reports. The officer will coordinate with center leadership safety teams and external law enforcement when required ensuring compliance with DARS policies and regulatory standards.This position is considered essential and you will be required to work rotating shifts nights weekends and holidays.Minimum Qualifications:Knowledge of principles of building and personnel security; Knowledge of Centers emergency procedures; Knowledge of various disabilities and skills in working with people with disabilities; Knowledge of positive behavioral intervention strategies.Skill in use of security equipment; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to use sound judgment and deal effectively with a diverse group of people and to effectively guide them in emergencies; Ability to meet the physical requirements of position; Ability to react appropriately and assume leadership under stressful conditions.Additional Considerations:N/ASpecial Instructions:This has been designated a sensitive position under Va.
