The Cardiology Invasive Technologist performs a wide range of technical skills which are utilized during cardiac and vascular procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory and the electrophysiology laboratory.

The cardiovascular technologist is responsible for operating highly technical equipment and products under the direct supervision of a qualified licensed independent practitioner (LIP).

The Technologist is proficient in all aspects of angiography, patient preparation, assessment, documentation and monitoring consistent with all policies, procedures and processes to ensure safe, efficient, and comfortable exams for all patients.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification by Cardiovascular Credentialing International or eligible to complete RCIS/RCES certification within 2 years from date of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current RCIS or RCES certification
Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers)

Experience REQUIRED:
Previous experience as required by Cardiovascular Credentialing International

Experience PREFERRED:
One (1) year of previous invasive cardiology experience
PALS and ACLS certification

Education/training REQUIRED:
Graduation from programmatically accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology or electrophysiology or education, training and/or experience that satisfies the eligibility requirement for the Cardiovascular Credentialing International certification of RCIS or RCES

Education/training PREFERRED: N/A

Independent action(s) required:
Able to perform in the scrub and monitor roles during diagnostic and interventional procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization or electrophysiology lab.
