JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Type

Part-Time Independent Contractor (1099), approximately 2 days per week


Position Summary

The Cardiac Sonographer performs high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms in a physician-led outpatient lab with focus on efficiency, diagnostic accuracy, and ICA/IAC accreditation standards.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform adult transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE)

• Acquire ASE/IAC-compliant studies

• Perform Doppler and strain imaging

• Perform contrast (Definity) and bubble studies

• Communicate urgent findings

• Maintain workflow efficiency (8–10/day)

• Assist with scheduling and supplies

• Maintain equipment and documentation


Quality & Accreditation

Participate in QI activities, image review, and maintain ICA/IAC standards.


Continuing Education

Maintain RDCS/RCS certification and CE requirements; stay current with ASE guidelines.

Productivity Expectations

Typical volume: 8–10 studies per day.


Compensation

• $50–55 per study depending on experience

• +$10 for contrast or bubble studies

• $350 daily minimum


Qualifications

Required:

• RDCS or RCS certification

• 1–2 years echocardiography experience

• Experience with contrast and bubble studies

• Ability to work independently


Preferred:

• Experience with GE ultrasound systems

• Familiarity with ViewPoint

• Pediatric echocardiography experience

• Experience in IAC-accredited labs


Credentialing & Compliance Requirements

• Maintain active certification and CE compliance

• Maintain professional liability insurance (preferred or as required)

• Meet credentialing requirements of affiliated facilities, including:

- Background check

- Drug screening

- Immunizations

- HIPAA/compliance training


Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and scan for extended periods

• Repetitive upper extremity use

• Ability to assist with patient positioning

• Ability to lift or move equipment/patients as needed
