Career and College Associate Director(annual 12 month position)The Environmental Charter School has an immediate need for a Career and College Associate Director.Successful candidates must be progressive minded and embody a can-do spirit and work ethic. Our high achievement scores long waiting lists and unique location in the city of Pittsburgh serve as a model in environmentally-focused education.OVERVIEWAs a key member of the schools campus leadership team the Career and College Associate Director helps to ensure that students and families have access to college career and post-secondary education opportunities available for the 21st-century student. The Associate Director leads career and college readiness efforts working directly with teachers and instructional staff to design and implement programs integrate career instruction into the curriculum and support students post-secondary planning graduation pathways and career development. The role also involves building external partnerships to provide students with internships career experiences and post-secondary opportunities while overseeing technical programs special education transitions and engaging families and the community to ensure student success. The Associate Director will also work with administrators and teachers to collect analyze interpret and use data to support student post-secondary success. The Associate Director works collaboratively with students families teachers student service members building administrators and members of the curriculum teamKEY RESPONSIBILITIESProvide leadership to all staff and students in establishing a positive structured and achievement-oriented classroom cultureEstablish individualized career and post-secondary goals and develop systems in which students achieve themWork with teachers and instructional staff to implement career instruction in the curriculaMaintain a database that tracks admission decisions statistics and provides a report annually to the administration.Create and update a high school profile.Create and support the implementation of career curriculum aligned to district-wide career standards and Chapter 339 and Act 158 state requirements.Coordinate opportunities and internships with external partnerships aligned with ECS career pathways for students career development and post-secondary readiness.Facilitate career awareness and post-secondary activities including post-secondary visits.Assist in the orientation of new and returning parents before the start of the school year to emphasize the responsibilities of parents teachers and students in the post-secondary pathway process in conjunction with high school counselorsEducate students and families about colleges the college admission process trends procedures and testing and graduation requirements in conjunction with the counselor.Participate in working groups of staff and teachers to plan problem solve and support one another on an ongoing basisParticipate in and deliver professional development and training on issues related to student college and post-secondary planning.EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND WORK EXPERIENCEBachelors Degree required.PA School Counseling Certification K-12 or 7-12 or PA Special Education Certification preferred.Minimum of 3-5 years secondary/ post-secondary experience preferredFamiliarity with charter schoolsCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITSMinimum starting salary of $69704 up to a maximum starting salary of $81857 dependent upon prior years experience.ECS offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical dental vision life insurance short- and long-term disability insurance generous paid time off and participation in a generous 403b retirement plan.To Apply: Submit cover letter resume and counseling certificate to: current within one year of hire date will be required.
