Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCarpenter Journeyperson (Norfolk, VA)LEAD Marine DivisionNorfolk, VA, USAFull-Time | ContractBenefits AvailablePay: $22.50 – $25.00/hrShift: Full-Time, 40 hrs/weekWe are hiring an experienced Carpenter Journeyperson in Norfolk, VA to support marine carpentry, joiner work, and drydock blocking operations. The Carpenter Journeyperson role requires proficiency in layout, fabrication, installation, and repair of wood and composite structures in accordance with drawings, specifications, and shipyard standards.Responsibilities• Construct, install, repair, and fabricate wooden and composite structures to protect ship equipment and support drydock/ship outfitting.• Interpret and work from drawings, job specifications, manuals, handbooks, and change orders.• Operate Carpenter Shop equipment, hand tools, portable power tools, and fabrication equipment.• Layout, cut, and fabricate products from blueprints, sketches, and owner specifications.• Provide OQE (Objective Quality Evidence) and complete all required documentation.• Maintain clean, safe work areas and comply with OSHA and shipyard safety practices.• Communicate hazardous conditions, follow written/oral instructions, and handle unexpected job challenges professionally.Requirements• HS Diploma, GED, or vocational equivalent.• Minimum 6 years of marine carpentry or related experience.• Ability to work with U.S. standard and metric measurements and perform basic math.• Must be physically able to wear all PPE (hard hat, glasses, respirator, harness, flotation gear).• Ability to climb ladders/scaffolding, work in confined spaces and high platforms.• Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift 50–100 lbs as required.• Must comply with company anti-harassment and nondiscrimination policies.• Must hold an active DBIDS credential.• Must be skilled in at least one of the following specialties:– Fabrication/installation of Nomex or false deck panels– Installation of drop ceiling grids and panels– Installation of Well Deck synthetic decking and batter boards– Ship window removal and installation– Array cover fabrication and installation– Drydock blockingBenefits• Medical Benefits• Paid Sick Leave (Hours-worked eligibility requirement applies)• Paid Holidays (Hours-worked eligibility requirement applies)• Referral Bonus ProgramBenefits are subject to eligibility requirements.To see more available jobs, visit www.leadstaff.com/jobs/About LEAD MarineLEAD Staffing, established in 2010, specializes in Construction, Industrial and Marine Staffing of Skilled Tradespeople throughout the United States of America.
