Professional development opportunities through the Lindenwood Learning Academy.JOB TITLE SUMMARYJob Title: Case Manager Student Counseling (10 months)Division: Student AffairsEvaluation Group: StaffFLSA Status: ExemptReports To: Director Student Counseling and Resource CenterPositions Supervised: Graduate Intern(s)Job SummaryThrough effective case management and the coordination of care between campus and community resources the case manager student counseling will provide services designed to minimize the impact of mental illness or emotional distress on the academic and personal pursuits of students. The case manager also serves on the Leo Cares team and provides crisis intervention and individual counseling as needed. This position is also responsible for consultation and psychological programming for Lindenwood University students.Essential Job Functions and Performance IndicatorsThe intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Employees may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.Job Responsibilities and ExecutionParticipates on the Leo Cares team coordinating referrals between the Student Counseling Resource Center (SCRC) the Leo Cares team and community providers to establish best standards of care services for students in needDirects/refers students to mental health care services in the community when higher levels of mental health treatment or services are neededMeets with students upon return from higher levels of mental health treatment and assists students with care coordination; monitors and follows up with students who have unique mental health concerns that require coordination of careParticipates as part of the clinical administrative team by assisting with the management of intake triage and emergency systems; staffing teams; and consultations regarding community referrals and insuranceProvides culturally-sensitive individual counseling to a diverse student body that presents with a variety of challenges including but not limited to depression anxiety substance use eating disorders trauma suicidal ideation and academic/family-related stressorsDevelops and maintains relationships with community mental health providers and other support networks; develops and updates a database of referral and community resourcesSupervises graduate internsAssists the SCRC director with overseeing the administration of personnel management policies and proceduresMaintains data on the amount of usage per termMaintains an active role in the development and implementation of the SCRCs strategic planning objectives and goals as well as those for the Student Life and Diversity as neededAssists with strategically marketing the SCRC to students faculty and staffService ExcellenceSupports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellenceModels supports and holds others accountable to the Universitys valuesCommunication Teamwork and CollaborationObtains appropriate authorization to collaborate with internal and external partners; consults with parents physicians faculty academic deans Residential Life staff off-campus counseling services and other campus offices when appropriate to provide quality care to studentsFollows up to ensure that clients are appropriately assessed successfully referred and compliant with treatment recommendationsCommunicates all duty to warn issuesJob may require other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications An equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.Masters degree in counseling clinical psychology social work or mental health counselingLicensed or license eligibleMinimum of 2 years full-time professional post-masters experience in providing psychological services (individual and group) in a higher education counseling center settingKnowledge Skills and Abilities May be representative but not all inclusive of the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform this job competently.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and culturesDemonstrated understanding of campus resources available to support student needsDemonstrated knowledge of and relationships with community providers to ensure the successful facilitation of referrals to mental health care outside of the SCRCDemonstrated understanding of the community mental health systems insurances hospitals treatment facilities etc. to facilitate student access to higher levels of careDemonstrated in-depth understanding of higher education case management and care/behavioral intervention teamsExperience developing and implementing training programs presentations and/or educational opportunities for students faculty and staffDemonstrated understanding of and experience with college student developmental theory and the unique concerns of undergraduate graduate and professional studentsDemonstrated understanding and knowledge of professional ethics related to mental health and higher educationStrong leadership skills including decision-making collaboration organization and case management Strong written communication skills to include accurate and thorough documentationWork Environment Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of this jobs functions.
