Job Category:Non-ClassifiedPosition Title:Student Engagement CoordinatorUnit/Division:Academic AffairsLocation:WVSOM Main Campus, Lewisburg, WVScheduled Hours Per Week:37.5FLSA Status:ExemptJob Description Summary:The Student Engagement Coordinator supports the Office of Student Affairs in advancing student engagement, leadership, and community involvement across campus. This position assists with planning and implementing student programs, events, and volunteer initiatives, while providing administrative oversight and mentorship to student leaders. Reporting to the Student Affairs Program Manager, the Coordinator serves as the staff liaison for the TOUCH (Translating Osteopathic Understanding into Community Health) program and student volunteer efforts. This position plays a key role in enhancing the overall student experience by promoting wellness, service, and leadership in alignment with the mission of WVSOM. This is a full-time, non-classified position; and is exempt from FLSA regulations concerning overtime; minimum base salary is $42,900 though commensurate with education and experience, plus a complete state benefits package. Not all activities of this position occur within the confines of an 8:00-4:30 schedule and shall require evening and weekend scheduling as needed. The weekly schedule for this position will be established between the supervisor and the employee and approved, given the needs of the department and the institution. This position has been designated as Essential; This means that when WVSOM is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover and continue operations at WVSOM. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or related; Two years of experience in higher education, student programming, community involvement and service, or volunteer management preferred.Customer service experience and familiarity with sensitive student or institutional information required.Experience working with student organizations, volunteer programs, event coordination, or community involvement and service preferred.Duties and Responsibilities:General Duties and ResponsibilitiesStudent Engagement and ProgrammingAssist with the planning, coordination, and execution of Student Affairs programs and events such as Orientation, White Coat, Club Fairs, Graduation Week, and Wellness Initiatives.Collaborate with student organizations and the Student Government Association (SGA) to promote student participation in activities and leadership opportunities.Support the development and implementation of programs designed to strengthen student morale, campus culture, and community involvement.Maintain calendars of student activities, program deadlines, and engagement milestones.Volunteer Oversight and TOUCH Program CoordinationServe as the institutional liaison for the TOUCH program and student volunteer efforts.Provide administrative oversight, training, and support to the SGA-appointed TOUCH coordinator and student volunteers.Ensure program compliance with institutional, state-wide, and national TOUCH requirements, including hour verification, reporting, and recognition submissions.Maintain volunteer service records, manage reporting databases, and coordinate annual recognition events.Collaborate with community partners and campus departments to create new volunteer opportunities.Student Leadership and Club SupportAssist student organizations and club leaders in understanding and following WVSOM policies, procedures, and event approval processes.Support the onboarding and training of new student organization officers and maintain accurate club rosters and registration records.Work with the Student Affairs Program Manager to review and process student organization event forms, fundraising requests, and travel documentation.Provide professional guidance to club officers on planning inclusive and compliant events.Administrative and Departmental SupportPrepare correspondence, reports, and documents as directed by Student Affairs leadership.Assist with budget tracking, purchasing, and reconciliation for student activities and engagement accounts.Help maintain confidential student information in compliance with FERPA and institutional policy.Support student data collection, assessments, and reports related to engagement, volunteerism, and leadership outcomes.Maintain consistent communication with students, faculty, staff, and external partners to strengthen Student Affairs programming.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor.Ability to exercise discretion, diplomacy, and independent judgment while handling sensitive information.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and ability to learn new systems quickly.Familiarity with student development, volunteer management, community involvement and service, and higher education operations.Ability to coordinate logistics, manage budgets, and collaborate effectively with diverse groups.Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours to support student events and community projects.Open Until Filled:YesSpecial Instructions:WVSOM requires official transcripts of your highest degree earned and/or the degree in which qualifies you for the position.
