Job Description

The Tool/Chem Crib / HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) Attendant is responsible for the daily routine of issuing tools/parts and hazardous material:Key Duties:Inspect tools and equipment for wear or defects including Calibrated tools and equipment assigned to tool crib.Prepare written damage reports and disposal/turn-in documentation.Ensure aircraft-related chemicals issued and returned are properly documented in HMMS.Maintain the bench stock tracking items issued and determining low stock reorder quantity in accordance with NPR 4100.Stock inventory and track deployable HAZMAT kits before and after deployments.Coordinate pick-up and delivery of hazardous materials.Manage HAZMAT chemicals to ensure common chemicals usage shelf life and on hand stock is maintained to reduce waste and cost.Ensure that all HAZMAT containers are in good condition kept closed and secured during storage properly labeled and segregated from incompatible materials.Inspect monthly and document with provided checklist all portable eyewash stations that are assigned to the Chemical/Tool crib. Ensure units are ready for deployment if needed.Update Safety Data Sheet binders on approved/updated chemicals as needed.Keep Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. ear plugs/hand sanitizers/eye saline bag) stocked at stations around the facility.Requirements:Must be capable of performing requisitioning inventory control storing packaging shipping receiving and cataloging required material in the support of aircraft operations.Be capable of reading and interpreting all reports directives publications and manuals pertaining to assigned responsibilities.Perform off-site related services when directed.Be capable of lifting a minimum of 75 lbs.Responsible for the adherence to the Environmental Health and Safety regulations policies and mandated Quality Assurance Security and all other applicable Navy/Air Force and NASA Program requirements per Armstrong Safety (Code 700) checklists.Additional Skills Preferred:Self-starter able to work with minimum supervisionAircraft and or aviation related fabrication skillsStrong background in aircraft sheet metal structural and skin repairsStrong organizational and time management skillsStrong problem solving skills; ability to ask the right questions help frame logical conclusions and arrive at effective solutionsStrong verbal and written communication competenciesAble to function well as a team memberAbility to travelPhysical Demands:This maintenance classification activity is usually accomplished in a flight line-like or hangar environment with extensive climbing standing stooping bending pushing kneeling stretching and walking demands. May require lifting of objects whose weight will not normally exceed 50lbs.
