Thank you for considering a career at Roper St. Francis Healthcare!Scheduled Weekly Hours:20Work Shift:Days (United States of America)Location:This Part-Time position will work at both the Tricom Office in North Charleston and the Berkeley Hospital Medical Office Building in Summerville.Hours:Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm 2-3 days a week.Job Summary:The Certified Medical Assistant is a key component of our team that works closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care to our community ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for reviewing and updating health records measuring vital signs and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.Essential Functions:Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful mannerPrepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results hospital reports and other medical records are correct and up to dateMeasures vital signs such as pulse rate respiration blood pressure weight and heightPerforms departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory stock supplies track referrals and answer phones as neededMust possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptlyOther duties as assignedLicensing/CertificationActive Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required): Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical AssistingRegistered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical TechnologistsCertified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer AssociationNational Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency TestingBLS Basic Life Support American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)EducationHigh School/GED (required)In South Carolina (completion of one of the below is required)An accredited Medical assistant post-secondary education programA Career and technical education health sciences program approved by the South Carolina Department of EducationA medical assisting program provided by a branch of the United States militaryA Medical assisting United States Department of Labor approved Registered Apprenticeship programA Training program that is delivered in whole or in part by a health care employer that aligns to a nationally accredited certification examExperience:One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred not required)Two years of clerical experience in a physicians office (preferred not required)Skills & Abilities:Possesses problem-solving skills basic computer skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skillsEngage with staff and patients in a professional mannerRoper St. Francis Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer.As a Roper St. Francis Healthcare teammate youre part of a Misson that matters.
