Title: Certified Pharmacy Tech II - Dana Cancer CenterDepartment Org: Dana Cancer Center - 110250Employee Classification: B5 - Unclass Full Time AFSCME HSCBargaining Unit:AFSCME HSCPrimary Location: HSC HShift:1Start Time:8am End Time:4:30pmPosted Salary: $22.62 - $26.07Float: FalseRotate: FalseOn Call: FalseTravel: FalseWeekend/Holiday: FalseJob Description:The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician II is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in processing and obtaining prior authorizations for clinic prescriptions triaging to UTMC Outpatient Pharmacies for dispensing in a manner that promotes high quality cost effective professional standards of patient care. This position assists the pharmacist in promoting maintaining and facilitating quality pharmacy services in compliance with laws set forth by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. They collaborate and communicate with patients caregivers health care professionals and the public to enhance the patient experience. The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician II completes other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications: Must hold current and unrestricted registration with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Technician. Technician certification required by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or equivalent. Requires 2 years experience. Ability to communicate and interact effectively professionally and courteously with other health care professionals patients and members of the University community. Knowledge of metric system along with names strength and dosage forms of medications and common medical abbreviations. Experience in outpatient or retail pharmacy service Strong computer skills required. Knowledge of purchasing and inventory management skills. Knowledge of third party insurance billing. Provide excellent customer service and present a positive public image. Must be able to withstand pressure due to work volume interruptions pace job variety with an expected degree of accuracy.Physical Requirements:1. Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable.2. Ability to hear (with or without aides).3. Ability to orally communicate.4. Good manual dexterity.5. Ability to push pull roll and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally.6. Ability to stand walk constantly.7. Ability to bend reach stoop and kneel occasionally.Preferred Qualifications: Experience completing prior authorizations for specialty medications both electronically and via paper submission Familiarity with navigating insurance requirements benefits verification and appeals process Prior work experience with oncology medications including oral oncolytics supportive care agents and specialty infusion products Understanding of FDA indications REMS programs and common payer restrictions associated with oncology therapies Experience coordinating with specialty pharmacies manufacturers and patient assistance programsConditions of Employment:To promote the highest levels of health and well-being the University of Toledo campuses are tobacco-free.
