JOB DESCRIPTION

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Construction

We are in need of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) specializing in construction to manage the complex financial realities of multi-project operations. Core duties involve precise job costing, Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting, cash flow forecasting, and construction tax compliance to prevent budget overruns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Job Costing & Budgeting: Track project expenses (labor, materials, and overhead) against initial budgets and develop cost codes to improve future bids.
  • Financial Reporting & WIP Schedules: Consolidate data into comprehensive statements for stakeholders, lenders, and bonding companies, focusing heavily on Work-In-Progress (WIP) schedules.
  • Contract & Risk Management: Monitor vendor and subcontractor agreements, review payment applications, issue lien releases, and ensure joint check agreements are properly handled.
  • Specialized Tax Strategy: Utilize industry-specific tax deductions, manage diverse revenue recognition methods (like the percentage-of-completion method), and navigate multi-state tax requirements.
  • Audit & Compliance Support: Prepare for and support both internal and external audits by reconciling project-level performance and ensuring internal controls are effective.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education & Licensing: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. An active CPA designation is highly preferred, along with the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) credential.
  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of accounting or finance experience, specifically in general contracting or heavy civil construction environments.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of construction-specific software and tools.

Benefits

  • Paid health, dental/vision, and life insurance with optional dependent coverage.
  • Pay to be discussed at interview.
