Job DescriptionJob DescriptionRecreational Therapist – Behavioral MedicineLocation: Alamogordo, NMEmployment Type: Full-TimeSummary:The Recreational Therapist organizes and facilitates activities such as sports, drama, nature exploration, social events, and arts and crafts to promote improvement in patients’ physical, mental, and social well-being. The therapist documents patient progress and collaborates with the treatment team to adjust therapy plans based on individual needs and abilities.Responsibilities:Implement recreational therapy interventions within an interdisciplinary treatment team.Carry out individualized treatment plans designed to support patient recovery and growth.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress and therapy sessions.Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements.Requirements:Education:Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field.Experience:Minimum of one (1) year of experience in therapeutic recreation or a related clinical setting preferred.Licenses/Certifications:Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), or certification through the Consortium for Therapeutic Recreation/Activities (e.g., TRS/TXC or TRA/TXC).Current CPR certification (American Heart Association).Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
