Job Description
The Department of Medicine at Huntington Hospital is seeking a physician leader for the Chair position. Huntington Hospital has recently received approval to launch an Internal Medicine Residency Program, and the Chair will play a central role in establishing the program’s educational framework, faculty development, and integration within the Department of Medicine.Responsibilities and tasks of this role include, but are not limited to:Overseeing the departmental aspect of strategic planning and programmatic growth with a focus on quality of the clinical, educational, and research programsLeading the development and enhancement of departmental clinical, educational, and research activities, in accordance with the facility’s mission and visionSupervising all professional activities and clinical staff within the Department and within subspecialty divisions of the DepartmentThe Chair of Medicine will report directly to the Hospital’s Medical Director while collaborating closely with the Medicine Service LineManaging staff including, appointing departmental members to committees, establishing, and coordinating faculty and staff development, periodically evaluating faculty and staff as well as all faculty appointments, reappointments, and promotions according to Hospital Medical Staff By-LawsEnsuring professional performance of all practitioners with clinical privileges in the DepartmentCollaborating with administrative and nursing leadership to build a team-based clinical environmentDeveloping policies, procedures and practices for the Department that ensure the provision of high-quality patient careAbout Northwell Health SystemNorthwell Health is the largest private employer in New York State with 28 hospitals and more than 1,000 outpatient community-based facilities. Degree or equivalent from an accredited College of MedicineCompletion of residency with Board CertificationCurrently licensed as a physician in the State of New YorkOutstanding organizational, communication and management skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with all staffPrevious division, department, or GME leadership experience highly preferredFull-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
