Built on a legacy of clinical excellence, groundbreaking research, and a highly respected residency program, the department offers comprehensive otolaryngologic services across multiple subspecialties, including head and neck oncology, neurotology, laryngology, pediatric otolaryngology, facial plastics, sleep surgery, and rhinology. With more than 103,000 outpatient visits and over 8,500 surgical procedures annually—including one of the nation’s largest cochlear implant programs—the department serves as a cornerstone of ENT care in the region. Research is a defining strength, with faculty leading diverse clinical, translational, and basic science initiatives. The department collaborates closely with the UH–NEOMED Hearing Research Center and Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, and hosts multiple funded investigators studying auditory science, head and neck oncology, airway disorders, and sensory dysfunction. The ideal candidate will be a nationally recognized physician-scientist or academic otolaryngologist with a demonstrated record of leadership, scholarly achievement, and a passion for advancing clinical care. The next Chair will be empowered to build upon a legacy of excellence while charting a bold strategic vision that will define the department’s next chapter. This individual will have earned an MD or MD/PhD, be board-certified, and qualify for appointment at the Professor level at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. The Chair will bring strategic vision, operational acumen, and the ability to foster collaboration across a large, complex health system while mentoring the next generation of leaders.The Chair will report to Nicole Maronian, MD, President of University Hospitals Physician Services and current Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at UH; Daniel Simon, MD, President of Academic & External Affairs and Chief Scientific Officer of UH; and Stanton Gerson, MD, Dean of the School of Medicine and Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs at Case Western Reserve University.
