Discover all the possibilities of a career at Northside today.ResponsibilitiesAs a Charge Nurse coordinates daily activities and distribution of work in area during scheduled shift; as a Preceptor Nurse acts as a professional educator and resource for new employees demonstrating clinical expertise and competence. The approximate amount of overall participation in direct patient care activities is 80% and ChargePreceptor duties is 20%. The range of roles between Charge and Preceptor may vary dependent upon patient acuity and volume issues. Works with a unit specific patient population. Care and/or services will be provided to pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric patients. This position is required to set priorities based on the situation at hand and is a combination of direct patient care management (charge) and education (preceptor) roles with responsibility for a unit during an eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift.The 3C General Medicine/ Neuroscience unit at Northside Hospital Forsyth isa 34-bed unit which serves to provide interdisciplinary 24/7 care primarily to an adult and geriatric population. The unit features all private acute care rooms with telemetry capabilities. Our major diagnoses include patients with alteration of following systems:RespiratoryGastrointestinalRenalNeurologicalNeurosurgicalCardiovascularEndocrinePulmonaryImmuneWe also treat patients requiring continuousvideo EEG monitoring.QualificationsKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.Must hold Certified in American Heart Associations Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:BSN degreeTwo (2) years recent experience in current clinical specialty (i.e. critical care surgical services diabetes education radiology etc.)Additional Life Support credential (ACLS PALS NRP etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
