DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Sous Chef needs to be able to work the line and cover for breaks vacations changeovers and callouts. Next in command after the Assistant Room Chef when the Room Chef is absent. Must always maintain a high level of quality and professionalism.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but is not limited to the following)Train and develop employees skillsHelp cook at busy change overs/callouts/vacations/breaks as neededAssist in production and quality levels of all food products both incoming and outgoingMust maintain proper sanitation environment to include proper use cleaning and handling of all equipment and productMaintain open and daily communication with staff and managementAssist the Room Chefs and other Assistant Restaurant Chefs as neededTimely execution of all responsibilities and assignmentsCarry out policies and procedures of the Silver LegacyExemplify our core values family style service our mission and visionExemplify our DEI (diversity equity inclusion) culturePerforms other job-related duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust be able to read write and verbally communicate effectively in EnglishFollow established company policies and proceduresMust think on their feet and make quick decisionsMust be able to work the kitchen line in all positionsSupervise and instruct others follow instructions influence others meet time requirements work precisely and problem solve using independent judgment and decision-making skillsSkill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and guestsMust maintain a high level of sanitation and safetyRequired knowledge of all culinary departments Always maintain a high level of professionalismHigh School diploma or equivalentGood working knowledge of computer software to include MS Word ExcelGeneral office experience preferred2 years plus cooking experience with some supervisory experiencePHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (May be required in order to perform the essential functions of the position)Work may be performed in an area which may be unusually noisy and crowdedMobility to include bending reaching prolonged standing and walking accessing and lifting items from floor level to six feet highNormal sense of smell touch sound and vision rangeEye/hand coordination and manual dexterityWork area is subject to variable temperaturesMay be subject to smoking environment and moderate noiseGUEST SERVICE (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL) STANDARDS:Employee is required to meet and deliver our core values service standards and family style service.PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to provide internal/ external guests with service excellence have excellent communication skills and observation skills and have an easygoing demeanor to ensure a fun and safe environment for our guests. Above average speech both speaking and reading/writing English. Need excellent interpersonal skills.
