The organization seeks a Chief Accounting Officer. This individual is responsible for the strategic leadership and oversight of the Christiana Care Health System's Accounting & Reporting Department. This position will ensure timely and effective decision-making for all leadership levels in support of the Strategic Vision of ChristianaCare. The Chief Accounting Officer will provide expert insight regarding the financial performance of Christiana Care Health System for all business segments, joint ventures, investment ventures and merger & acquisition activities. It is expected that the Chief Accounting Officer will develop innovative tools and processes to enable the most responsive financial reporting system possible. Principal duties and responsibilitiesEnsure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of Christiana Care Health System consolidated financial statements.
Direct the analysis and interpretation of financial information and aid in development of business operating plans. Work with the SVP of Finance to monitor operational plans and suggest alternative courses to meet financial expectations. Balance short-term and long-term strategic objectives to maximize ChristianaCare's financial performance. Direct supervision and accountability for the Accounting & Reporting Department.
Oversee monitoring and reporting of the financial performance of ChristianaCare to identify trends and safeguard the assets of the organization. Responsible for interpretation of the financial results, analyze actual versus budget, prior period, and benchmark variances, and keep the SVP of Finance and CFO informed of significant events impacting the business performance of the organization. The Chief Accounting Officer is responsible for the timely delivery of a thorough financial Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) reporting package.
Ensure proper maintenance of financial records and compliance with finance and accounting standards, regulatory guidelines, and reporting requirements. Provide expert technical accounting understanding and leadership. Implement new Accounting Standards Updates (ASUs) issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and effectively and efficiently implement, including managing the impact of the new standards for the organization.
Build and maintain professional development programs for an inclusive and diverse Accounting & Reporting team that enables the achievement of ChristianaCare's goals in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the organization.
Proficient in Workday Financials. Strive for automation when applicable.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance; MBA highly desired.
Certified Public Accountant required.
Minimum of 12 years of accounting experience required.
SEC reporting experience is preferred.
Experience in healthcare is highly desired.
Knowledge of hospital net revenue accounting desired.

Annual Compensation Range $242,840.00 - $412,838.40. This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including, without limitation, skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
