Property Location: Glen Allen, VAJob SummaryThe Chief Engineer oversees all maintenance operations and team members. The Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall physical condition of the hotel and requires a high level of specialized expertise in all areas of responsibility. The Chief Engineer ensures labor and quality standards are upheld and assists with establishing a positive work environment, delivering exceptional guest service and administering policies and procedures established by the company and the hotel brand.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms and assigns established preventative maintenance programs for equipment, guestrooms, meeting space, and all other areas of the hotelPerforms repairs of minor mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and building-related componentsOversees maintenance department with efforts relating to training, scheduling, and counseling Coordinates and manages all maintenance projects and outside contractors including gathering proposals, making recommendations, creating timelines, and resolving issues Provides training and coaching to direct reports Maintains pool areas according to company and brand standards in addition to applicable state and local codesMaintains external property appearance including lawn, landscaping and parking lotMonitors and oversees department budget including payroll and product inventories Ensures compliance with all required health, safety and security standards and proceduresMonitors and oversees inventory of equipment, tools and supplies Maintains basic knowledge of fire safety equipment, refrigeration, pool and elevator operationMaintains operational knowledge of common power and hand toolsAssists team members and other departments as needed to contribute to operational efficiency Processes purchase orders and invoices for paymentPerforms additional responsibilities as assigned by leadershipQualificationsCertified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtainStrong interpersonal and communication skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to handle stressful situations with poise and professionalismStrong leadership and a professional imageConduct work-related functions in a professional manner If offered a position the candidate must complete a criminal background check.
