We are looking for a responsible intelligent self-starter ideally someone with technical experience in the broadcast industry. This position reports directly to the station VP/General Manager.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department and is responsible for the maintenance of all broadcast technology and equipment at the station and transmitter siteEnsures station compliance with FCC rules and regulations as well as all local state and federal regulations applicable to the stationWorks with corporate leadership to develop and implement new technologies and technical infrastructure for the stationManages the information technology staff and systemPlans and manages staffing training and performance evaluations for the Engineering DepartmentMake decisions regarding hiring evaluation promotion and termination of employeesAssigns projects to staff and verifies that deadlines are being metWorks with corporate leadership to manage engineering and technology capital projects to the established budgetsManages and coordinates station connectivity production set ups A/V routing and patching audio equipment graphics systems and editing systemsAssist News department in maintaining critical systems for live on air and streaming newscasts and programmingImplements installs and maintains engineering systems and provides end-user support across all departmentsEvaluates selects installs services and maintains station equipment and information technology systemsCommunicates and coordinates with equipment maintenance and training with vendors/contractorsMaintains station vehicle fleet including live satellite truckOversee facility maintenance buildings and grounds electrical plumbing and HVACPerforms other duties as assignedRequirements & Skills:Associate or bachelors degree in engineering IT Communications or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferredRequires a working knowledge of television and digital studio broadcast and production systemsExperience managing maintaining and supporting IT and networking systemsCommunication skills along with organizational and interpersonal skills as well as report writing responsibilities for WROC Nexstar and the FCCEvaluates selects installs services and maintains station equipment and IT systemsCommunicates and coordinates equipment maintenance and training with vendors/contractorsWorks closely with General Manager and department heads to ensure station objectives are being metEvaluates employee access and trains employees on station systems and equipmentAbility to meet deadlines prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to work flexible hours and be on call as needed for operationsValid drivers license with an acceptable driving recordFluency in English; strong communication both verbal and writtenPerforms other duties as assignedCompensation: $75000 to $81000annualizedcommensuratewith applicants experience and skill level.WROC/RochesterFirst Nexstar Media Inc. offers excellent benefits including paid vacations holidays sick leave and personal days health insurance plans Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts 401K Retirement Plan paid parental leave dental vision Teladoc behavioral health services prescription drug coverage life insurance plans paid short term disability and many more benefit options.
