Form and implement student educational programs; support and followthrough with individual educational goals and accommodations. Perform dailyadministrative functions including preparing class materials, disinfecting room and toys,writing student progress reports, attending professional development meetings, andperforming other related duties. Communicate with school staff and/or student guardiansregarding student progress; conduct parent conferences. Tend to the personal needs ofstudents including lifting, diapering, and custodial/toilet training.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks describe the basic functions ofthe job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustivelist of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. Plan, implement, and monitor each students educational programs. Plan andimplement a full-day, year-round, developmentally appropriate curriculumincluding weekly themes and lesson plans, inclusion of theme-related materials,and rotation of toys and equipment on a regular basis. Supervise students in theclassroom. Plan and facilitate small and large instructional group activities that aredevelopmentally appropriate. Provide a safe, responsive, stimulating, nurturing,and orderly classroom environment and routines conducive to the growth anddevelopment of each student with readily accessible, age appropriate materials.[Daily] Supervise, evaluate, and maintain records for program employees. Superviseteacher assistants and/or para-educators in the classroom, including delegatingwork, training, directing work, assigning work, and resolving problems.Communicate and encourage professional growth opportunities for teacherassistants and/or para-educators. May observe teacher assistants and/or para-educators performance to provide input for annual evaluations completed by theDirector of Early Childhood Education (ECE). [Daily] Attend and participate in meetings related to early childhood students learningplans. Support and follow through with students plans goals and accommodationsby collaborating and planning with special education service providers, workingindividually or in small groups with students with learning plans goals, developingactivities to meet the goals, etc. Attend licensing meetings with the school nurseand other service providers, per need. [Daily] Oversee the day-to-day operation of the classroom such as preparing classmaterials and toys, student discipline, addressing parent complaints, dailyattendance, daily anecdotes/progress notes, correspondence books, proper foodhandling and sanitation practices, tending to students personal needs, etc. Supervise children on the playground. Handle emergencies and injuries in a safeand professional manner. Plan and implement meaningful activities for large motorperiods. [Daily] Write student progress reports and conduct parent conferences. Communicatewith student guardians and district special educators regarding student progressand/or issues. [Weekly] Complete Inter-Rater Reliability and collect sufficient student data and input intoMy Teaching Strategies (TS GOLD); meet deadlines for three checkpoints a year,as mandated by the State of Colorado. Develop and maintain an assessmentportfolio for each child. [Weekly] Create lists for classroom supplies as needed and according to school guidelines.[Monthly] Attend and participate in professional development trainings. [Monthly] Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily]MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree or vocational training certification. Early childhood education/preschool teacher, instructor, or educationalassistant/para experience. Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, faxmachines, email, etc. Basic word processing skills. Intermediate interpersonal relations skills. Ability to follow all Federal and State licensing rules and regulations. Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. Ability to work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary special education team, aswell as with other professionals. Ability to implement behavior modification techniques. Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students. Ability to run and retrieve children. Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired. Colorado Department of Human Services Early Childhood Teacher certification.Colorado Shines PDIS 3.0 Level 2. All mandated by Colorado Department of Human Services and Early ChildhoodDepartment trainings and certifications.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent. Two (2) years of preschool teaching experience. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, andsocioeconomic backgrounds.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Heavy physical effort. Lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. Frequent bending, squatting, reaching, and climbing. Eye/hand coordination. Visual concentration. Concentrated reading/writing/mathematics. Prolonged standing and walking. Overhead work. Occasional lifting, pulling, and/or pushing. May be required to assist students with custodial needs (feeding, toilet). May work outdoors when monitoring student activities. Normal school environment that may include potential outbursts of behavior.
