We are looking for candidates who will demonstrate a history and willingness to continue to learn about varied relevant teaching and learning practices assessment strategies and educationally sound supports that will sustain a diverse and changing student body and college service area.We seek colleagues who create positive engaging learning and development environments in class and throughout the college that challenge and support students to aspire to and achieve their full potential.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Regular/contract instructors participate in the planning implementation and evaluation of educational programs courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the visions missions and values of the college and District. Instructors may be assigned a combination of day evening and week-end courses offered by a college strongly committed to the open door concept serving a diverse student population. Instructors will be expected to perform other duties consistent with their faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract including possible assignment as coordinator of the campus child development center.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:Masters in child development early childhood education human development home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood educationOR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in social work educational supervision elementary education special education psychology bilingual/bicultural education life management/home economics family life studies or family and consumer studiesOR The equivalent.If you are applying based on the equivalent you will need to complete an Equivalency Determination Form. Click here for EQUIVALENCY INSTRUCTIONS and the EQUIVALENCY DETERMINATION FORM.NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must demonstrate:Experience in college teaching in the areas of child development and/or family studies.Ability to instruct and motivate students with differing needs and abilities from a variety of academic cultural socioeconomic linguistic disability gender and ethnic backgrounds.Experience in coordinating and overseeing programs serving children and families.Experience as a classroom teacher in an early childhood setting.Evidence of involvement with professional and community related projects and organizations.Evidence of experience using technology during teaching (Online Hybrid).OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates will also be evaluated for qualifications in the following:Ability to work effectively with colleagues.Commitment to participation in campus committees and activities.Commitment to keeping current on issues involving the field of child development/family studies.Willingness to seek outside funding sources and prepare funding proposals for projects and instruction monitor budget and complete necessary reports.
