Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummaryResponsible for preparing and delivering of meals through close coordination with center teachers that exceeds State and USDA requirements while creating a ‘home cooked’, ‘family’ style, healthy meal for the children. Additionally, responsible for ensuring that Northstar Early Learning Center provides the premier child development experience that is educational and affordable.Tasks:Apportion and serve food to childrenCompile and maintain records of food use and expendituresTrain new employeesTake inventory of supplies and equipmentManage center food and nutrition programPrepare mealsMaintain cleanliness of kitchen, suppliesInventory of supplies, equipmentFollow dishwashing procedures as is relates to Rule 3Support children’s emotional, social developmentMaintain CEU’s and upgrade trainingComplete certification process to become a teacherPrepare breakfast and snack for childrenMust be able to attend work as scheduledDutiesWork Activities:follow recipes;understand state health and food service regulations;Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards;Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work;Performing for or Working Directly with the Public;Serve food or beverages;provide customer service;Making Decisions and Solving Problems;determine food or beverage costs;determine food portions;Performing General Physical Activities;clean kitchen work area;Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings;Temperature of food to determine that it is cooked;Handling and Moving Objects;cook meals;use knives;wash dishes, glassware, or related utensils;prepare appetizers, salads, or cold dishes;carve meat or bone fish or fowl;perform a variety of food preparation duties other than cooking;knead, shape, cut, or roll food products by hand;cut, trim, or clean meat, or carcasses;bake breads, rolls, or other baked goods;Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material;evaluate premises for cleanliness.RequirementsServe Safe Certification for Manager or ability to obtain within 60 days of hireAbility to multi-task in a fast paced environmentAbility to work alone and stay on taskAbility to prioritize work that needs to be accomplishedBenefitsBenefits:Employee discountPaid time offEducation scholarship through TEACH if desiring to follow an education in Early EducationAbout UsNorthstar Early Learning Center is a family-owned childcare center that partners with families in preparing children for lifelong success through rich educational experiences in a safe, nurturing environment.
