DescriptionAssociate Attorney – Civil Litigation (No Billable Requirement / Chicago Office)A leading Chicago-based litigation firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its growing civil litigation defense team. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex litigation matters in a collaborative, supportive environment—without billable hour requirements.Key Responsibilities:·      Handle all aspects of civil litigation, including product liability defense, from pre-litigation assessment through trial.·      Take and defend depositions; manage written discovery and case evaluation.·      Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and settlement agreements.·      Represent clients in court proceedings: hearings, status calls, pretrials, trials, and mediations.·      Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and court, providing litigation updates and case evaluations.·      Collaborate efficiently with partners, associates, and support staff while helping develop case management systems.RequirementsQualifications:·      Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.·      Active Illinois bar license (additional state licenses a plus).·      5–7 years of civil defense litigation experience (product liability background preferred).·      Proven record taking/defending depositions, conducting discovery, and managing all phases of defense litigation.·      Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.·      Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple cases with limited supervision.·      Previous trial and ADR experience highly valued.·      Additional experience in personal injury, civil rights litigation, mass torts, or medical malpractice is a plus.Compensation & Benefits:·      Salary: $110,000–$175,000, based on experience.·      Year-end discretionary bonus.·      Full suite of benefits including 401(k) employer match, health, dental, and vision insurance.·      No billable hour requirements.About the Firm:Our team is recognized for results-driven advocacy, exceptional client service, and success in high-stakes litigation across industries such as antitrust, toxic tort, aviation, automotive, business disputes, construction, civil rights, class actions, employment law, medical negligence, pharmaceutical, premises, and product liability.Interested? Apply today!
