Clinical Assistant Professor (Pediatrics) at University of the Pacific

Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of: General and pediatric dentistry principles. Advanced course instruction. Advanced principles in care of children Advanced principles in care for children with complex IDD medical needs. Principles of pediatric dental practice management including accepted and evidence-based behavior management risk-based care practices and business principles of practice management. Techniques equipment used and current developments in the field of dentistry. Ability to: Demonstrate a wide range of clinical skills be able to treatment plan and care appropriately for patients with a wide range of dental and medical needs including the ability to treatment plan directly with patients as well as parent guardians and surrogate decision makers. Experience: Clinical and didactic instruction within a dental school. Working with children with IDD . Experience working with medically compromised children with IDD . Experience using an integrated Electronic Health Record. Collaboration within teams. Providing oral rehabilitation under general anesthesia. Education/Licenses: DDS / DMD degree. Completion of a residency program in Pediatric Dentistry. Current active license to practice dentistry. Valid CPR / BLS / PALS certification. Distinguishing Characteristics: Applicants must be able to demonstrate significant student loan debt and be eligible for the loan repayment program according to program guidelines established by HRSA Federal State and University criteria. All tax regulations related to loan repayment programs apply. The candidate will be responsible for payment of taxes related to loan repayment. Upon completion of loan repayment candidates will be expected to commit to teaching at Dugoni an additional two years beyond their completion date. Working Conditions: Position is full-time 4 days per week negotiable. Requires attendance to weekend/evening events and meetings. Local or interstate travel to teach in community clinics may be required. Distant travel to present scholarly work may be required. Occasional travel to the San Francisco campus may be required for professional development or other activities as assigned by their Department ChairPreferred QualificationsAbility to: Communicate effectively with administration staff students and public through oral and written communications. Serve as a liaison between Dugoni and community partners. Develop and deliver presentations. Analyze problems provide solutions and implement recommendations. Prepare and present reports concisely and logically. Effectively manage projects and deadlines with close attention to detail. Work with minimal supervision. Display dedication to professional development in both clinical and teaching capacities. Experience: One year GPR or AEGD preferred but not required. Education/Licenses: Board Certified from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Ability to gain and maintain trust and good relations with clients. Able to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment. Places a high value on personal and departmental performance excellence. Other: Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
