Cleveland State UniversityAssistant ProfessorSchool of Social WorkJob Summary:The School of Social Work in the College of Health at Cleveland State University (CSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 17, 2026. This is a full-time, nine-month, on-campus appointment with summer employment possible.We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in areas such as social work practice with children and families, community organizing and advocacy, systems and policy change, and health-related social work. The position includes primary teaching responsibilities in both web-based and face-to-face courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a standard teaching load of six courses per academic year. The successful candidate must also have an active research agenda and expect to participate in standard university and community service activities.The School of Social Work at CSU is rapidly growing, with approximately 1,100 students enrolled in our CSWE-accredited BSW and MSW programs. The school educates a diverse student body from various geographic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds and offers an energetic, collegial, and supportive academic environment.The College of Health was formed in 2022 and encompasses the following academic units: Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Sciences/Human Performance, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, School of Nursing and School of Social Work.CSU aspires to be a national leader in social and economic mobility. CSU is striving to be a nationally recognized and student focused public research institution that provides accessible, affordable, and engaged learning opportunities for all.Minimum Qualifications:MSW degree from a CSWE accredited university;D. in Social Work or a closely related field – Appropriate terminal degree completed by July 1, 2026. Persons who are ABD will be hired at the rank of Instructor;Minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience;Demonstrated ability to teach across multiple course topics and program levels (BSW and MSW) and;Eligibility for social work licensure. Preferred Qualifications:Record of publications in scholarly journals;Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels;Teaching experience in both face-to-face and web-based courses;Research interests in various areas such as social work practice with children and families, community organizing and advocacy, systems and policy change, and health-related social work and;Current possession of social work licensure.Applicant Instructions:Applications will only be accepted online at https://hrjobs.csuohio.edu/postings/25641.
