Our kidney disease program is consistently ranked among the best in the nation by U.S.News & World Report, with more than 250 kidney transplants performed each year. Our multidisciplinary team is comprised of nurses, physicians, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers and spiritual caregivers who communicate daily to meet patient needs. Nurses are provided an extensive orientation specific to the care of our patients, including critical care training.At the Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Transplant Center, our specialists have performed more than 1,700 liver transplants, helping restore patients’ liver function and health. In fact, Washington University surgeons completed the first successful liver transplant surgery in Missouri.
