Clinical Pharmacist Acute Care / Teaching Hospital (Contract California Region)OverviewA leading acute care teaching hospital is seeking a skilled Clinical Pharmacist to support its inpatient clinical and operational pharmacy services. This role involves direct collaboration with medical teams therapeutic monitoring and ensuring safe and effective medication use across diverse patient populations. Ideal candidates will have strong acute care experience and comfort working in a high-acuity teaching environment. This is a 13-week contract offering competitive weekly compensation.Key ResponsibilitiesVerify medication orders for accuracy safety and compliance with clinical guidelinesProvide pharmacotherapy expertise including dose adjustments and therapeutic drug monitoringParticipate in interdisciplinary rounds to support evidence-based medication managementOversee medication preparation and dispensing in accordance with regulatory and institutional standardsConduct medication regimen reviews for interactions contraindications and optimization opportunitiesSupport antimicrobial stewardship and other clinical pharmacy initiativesPerform medication reconciliation during transitions of careDocument clinical interventions and medication-related activities in the electronic health recordRespond to drug information inquiries from healthcare providersEnsure compliance with controlled substance handling and inventory protocolsContribute to departmental quality safety and performance improvement effortsQualificationsActive pharmacist license in the state of practice (or eligibility to obtain)Recent experience in an acute care or teaching hospital setting strongly preferredStrong clinical knowledge across adult inpatient care populationsAbility to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary academic environmentDemonstrated proficiency with electronic health records and hospital pharmacy systemsProfessional references and completion of required competency assessmentsWork Environment & ScheduleThirteen-week contract within a major acute care teaching hospital serving the California region.
