Classification Title:Clinical Referral Representative IIClassification Minimum Requirements:A high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience providing customer service in a healthcare setting.Job Description:Insurance Verification and Authorization -Management Coordinates referrals consultations and appointments according to established procedures for 4 referral queues (including verification of deductibles co-pays out of network benefits non-covered services pre-certifications and prior authorizations). Builds positive relationships with referring offices and maintains confidentiality at all times. Demonstrates knowledge of UF Health services and affiliates to guide patients and providers effectively. Uses active listening and clear communication to resolve issues and ensure satisfaction.Appointment Scheduling and Coordination -Supports the management of clinic and program scheduling to ensure efficient use of provider time and resources. Coordinates appointments based on patient needs provider availability and service requirements. Confirms and updates demographic insurance noncovered services costs and referral information at the time of scheduling to ensure accuracy and compliance. Ensures all aspects of the referral and authorization is tied to the patient appointment for billing purposes. Provides patients with appointment instructions reminders and necessary documentation. Communicates promptly with providers and staff to adjust schedules for cancellations reschedules or urgent requests.Referral Processing and Management- Accurately enters and updates referral data patient information and service details into UF Health systems for four referral queues according to departmental protocols. Processes requests for additional referrals/authorizations when requested by patients and/or providers.Administrative and Clerical Support- Identifies opportunities to improve referral workflows communication systems and administrative efficiency. Communicates operational challenges and suggestions for improvement to supervisors. Supports the implementation of new procedures technology tools or policy updates aimed at enhancing service delivery.Team and Organizational Engagement -Assists in training and mentoring new employees on department processes systems and customer service standards. Participates in professional development continuing educationand departmental meetings. Stays current with organizational updates new protocols and technology advancements.Other Duties as Assigned- Performs additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by leadership to support department goals and ensure continuity of service. Provides occasional assistance with community outreach events screenings or educational initiatives. Adjusts to changing priorities and maintains flexibility in fulfilling operational needsExpected Salary:$20 - $25 per hour depending on their education and experienceRequired Qualifications:A high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience providing customer service in a healthcare setting.Preferred:CD-9 and CPT coding preferred. Understanding of medical terminology. One year clerical/customer service experience in a health care setting. One year experience with third party payers. Computer experience for imputing data and reviewing patient demographic material required.Special Instructions to Applicants:This is a time-limited position.
