JOB TITLE: Cloud Systems Engineer - Data Transport JOB LOCATION: Gunter Air Force Base , Montgomery, AL WAGE RANGE : $110k to $140k (based on years of experience) JOB NUMBER: 26-00714 REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Secret Clearance Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field 2+ years of experience in cloud engineering, systems engineering, or IT environments Experience supporting cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure required; GCP or OCI a plus) Experience working with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Terragrunt Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer to support cloud-based infrastructure and data transport systems within a federal cloud program. This role focuses on supporting distributed, multi-cloud environments and maintaining Kubernetes-based infrastructure while contributing to system stability, automation, and performance optimization within a DevSecOps-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working in AWS and Azure environments, supporting containerized workloads, and leveraging Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD automation to enable secure, scalable, and repeatable DevSecOps workflows. Key Responsibilities Support the stability, scalability, and reliability of cloud-based systems across AWS and Azure environments within a DevSecOps framework Build, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure supporting distributed applications and data transport services Implement Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terragrunt and Terraform to automate secure infrastructure provisioning and maintenance Support system integration, verification, validation, and supportability analysis across cloud environments and DevSecOps pipelines Upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain containerized applications including Apache NiFi and other data transport services Refactor and maintain Helm charts to improve functionality, resolve defects, address security vulnerabilities, and align with DevSecOps best practices Monitor and manage the performance and health of cloud infrastructure, virtual machines, and containerized workloads Troubleshoot system performance, configuration, and operational issues across multi-cloud environments Develop, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI/CD to support automated, secure software delivery Collaborate with engineering, operations, and security teams to integrate security controls into development and deployment processes Contribute to technical documentation, engineering artifacts, and operational procedures supporting DevSecOps and cloud operations Assist in developing proactive engineering solutions to improve system monitoring, automation, security, and performance Required Qualifications Active Secret security clearance U.S. Citizenship required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field 2+ years of experience in cloud engineering, systems engineering, or IT environments Experience supporting cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure required; GCP or OCI a plus) Experience working with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Terragrunt Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices Basic understanding of distributed systems, system administration, and cloud networking Certifications DoD 8570 / 8140 compliant certification (IAT Level II required or obtainable within 6 months) One or more cloud certifications required within 6 months of hire Equal opportunity employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities While an hourly range is posted for this position, an eventual hourly rate is determined by a comprehensive salary analysis which considers multiple factors including but not limited to: job-related knowledge, skills and qualifications, education and experience as compared to others in the organization doing substantially similar work, if applicable, and market and business considerations.
