Administers resident medications according to Broadmead's policies and procedures without significant errors2. Administers medication with knowledge of action, route of administration, side effects and contraindications3. Administers medications to the assigned residents within the timeframe noted in nursing care policies and procedures4. Administers prescribed routine oral, topical, suppositories and optic medications as ordered by the physician5. Maintains accurate medication administration records as per established procedures; signs of medication as they are given6. Performs pulse and blood pressure measurements, and documents in MAR as needed prior to medication administration and reports and changes to the charge nurse7. Gives complete reports to charge nurse as needed during the day and at the end of the shift8. Provides safe, direct physical care of the resident and follows established safety precautions in the performance of all duties (including use of mechanical lift with 2 persons at all times)9. Performs documentation timely and accurately on flow sheets and other applicable forms of all delegated and routine care activities10. Maintains clean, safe and orderly resident environment by keeping the area clean and disposing of soiled, contaminated items11. Provides for overall protection of residents and facility by carefully adhering to Standard Precautions and practices and all other infection control policy and procedures12. Reports malfunctioning, broken, or hazardous equipment or conditions to the nurse and/or maintenance13. Obtains and records accurately vital signs, intake and output, and weights as ordered14. Assists residents in activities of daily living15. Assists nurses, physicians and other interdisciplinary team members by preparing residents for specific procedures/treatments/activities16. Makes rounds on assigned residents every 2 hours and as needed for the purpose of identifying resident needs such as turning and positioning and checking for continence status17. Answers call lights in a timely manner18. Responsible for having residents up, dressed, toileted and ready for all appointments including but not limited to medical appointments, therapy, daily therapeutic recreation programs19. Cleans utility rooms, pantry and all other work areas when needed or as assigned20. Insures optimal clinical care of residents by carefully following nursing procedures21. Accountable for promoting internal customer service.
