Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Summary:CMM Operator is responsible for the inspection of products utilizing CMM Technology and other inspection methods to meet customer requirements, ensuring completion of all required documentation to Millison Casting Technology procedures and customer standards. This position is also responsible for performing layout inspection of parts, assemblies, and inspection fixtures and gages using Coordinate Measuring Machines or other appropriate measuring devices. Key Responsibilities:Calibration of CMM probes as required for each product to be inspected Inspects manufactured parts to ensure that the parts are within prescribed tolerances, to part print specifications, using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), Contracer, roughness meter and working to automotive common tolerances Utilization of other inspection methods to verify any feature where CMM has inspection limitations Communicate with applicable Millison Casting technology personnel on the inspection status of products as required. Execution of CMM programs and review / sign-off of the completed inspection report. Conduct miscellaneous surface plate inspections and hand-held gage setup/calibration as required Investigate instances of mismeasurements; to identify research, analyze and report measurement problems Must be able to interact and assist with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel regarding part conformance and process capability Create and edit dimensional inspection programs for the CMM Create program set-up and execution documentation Working knowledge of blueprints, sketches, drawings, manual, specifications and geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) Assist in training other employees in CMM operation Ability to read and understand CMM inspection reports, manual inspection results with reference to the relevant customer-supplied drawings / models and communicate outcomes and issues with Quality, Engineering and Operations Ability to operate all CMM’s within the facility Ability to operate a minimum of 2-3 CMM’s simultaneously Involvement in determining CMM Inspection schedules to ensure efficient operation of the CMM facility and achievement of internal / external customer delivery dates. Supporting quality team with calibration activity requiring CMM inspection. Stops production and detains shipments when a product quality issue is detected Actively participate in companywide quality / business improvements activities & lean practices Uphold and practice the company’s values, policies, practices and rules at all times. Continue to personally progress and add value within the Millison Casting Technology s continuous improvement projects. Implement the company’s Health & Safety Policy in respective areas on a day-to-day basis. Work reasonable shift / overtime / flexible hours as requested by the company. Participate in personal development / training through the ongoing appraisal system. Complete any other reasonable duties required by the company Required Qualifications:Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, math data, reports, instructions and procedures Proficient in MSA and SPC (internal training can be provided) Proficient in using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) Thorough knowledge and use of Micrometers, Calipers, Thread & Pin Gauges, Surface Plates and Height Gauges. Experience with Roughness meter and Contracer is a plus. Strong computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Windows applications. Familiar with ISO standards is a plus. Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect deviations and implement corrective actions. Able to keep neat and organized records and files. Ability to present data effectively Good problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment Planning and prioritizing CMM measurement activities Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and reporting deviations or issues. Ability to adapt to new processes and technologies, including receiving and applying training as necessary. Understanding of cost and financial impacts at the position level. Safety consciousness at all times. Physical and Environmental Requirements:Ability to perform inspections, audits or manage training in a manufacturing or production environment. Ability to work with gages or measurement equipment as required. Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, goggles, and safety gear. Ability to walk, stand, or move between production areas as necessary for the inspection or auditing process.
