Anticipated:Job Title: Social Studies Teacher/Boys Coach Wage/Hour Status: Exempt (Certified: 6th - 8th) Reports to: Principal Pay Grade: THS: ($66300 - $78185) Dept./School: Crosby Middle School Date Revised: 6/5/03:11/1/11:07/01/20Report Date: December 15 2025 or Days To Work: 176/10 Months As Soon As Possible In-House applicants must complete the online internal application process in School Springs/TalentEd All substitutes for Crosby ISD if applying for a full time job MUST complete an External Application Primary Purpose:Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelors degree from accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assignedDemonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assignedSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of core academic subject assignedGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorStrong organizational communication and interpersonal skillsExperience:At least one year student teaching or approved internshipSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional StrategiesDevelop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of districts curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative regulations.Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals objectives and methods according to district requirements.Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.Student Growth and DevelopmentHelp students analyze and improve study methods and habits.Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.Be a positive role model for students support mission of school district.Classroom Management and OrganizationCreate classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.Assist in selection of books equipment and other instructional materials.CommunicationEstablish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers.Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members.Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Professional Growth and DevelopmentParticipate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress. Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics. Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelors degreeValid Texas teaching certificateSpecial Knowledge/Skills:General knowledge of coaching techniques and proceduresKnowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rulesAbility to instruct and supervise student athletesExcellent organizational communication and interpersonal skillsExperience:Four years experience as coach or participant in sport assignedMajor Responsibilities and Duties:InstructionUse a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned.Manage and supervise athletic activities contests and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills teamwork and good sportsmanship.Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.Program ManagementEstablish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes equipment materials and facilities.Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all UIL rules.Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.Work with athletic director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findings.Student ManagementAccompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of-town trips.Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests practice sessions and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Encourage by example and through instruction sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.CommunicationEstablish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers.AdministrationAssist in selection of equipment and instructional materials.Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required.Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within program.Oversee process of cleaning repairing and storing all campus athletic equipment.Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise assigned assistant coaches and student athletic assistants.Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress.
