JOB DESCRIPTION

CNC Machinist

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up, program, and operate CNC mills and lathes. The machinist will be responsible for changing out tooling, clamps, vices, performing offsets, and zeroing out the machine. Quality inspection will be conducted using micrometers and calipers to ensure precision components are produced according to blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes.
  • Change out tooling, clamps, and vices.
  • Perform offsets and zero out the machine.
  • Conduct 1st piece and through-process quality inspections using micrometers and calipers.
  • Ensure the use of proper gauging for job requirements.
  • Produce precision components as per blueprints.
  • Perform necessary part inspections using specified gauging instruments.
  • Set up new or existing components for machining.
  • Obtain necessary tooling for job completion.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in CNC setups or operating.
  • Proficiency in operating CNC mills or lathes.
  • Ability to perform quality checks using micrometers, calipers, and various gauges.
  • Understanding of blueprints and machining processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Siemens and Fanuc controls is advantageous.
  • CNC certificate or relevant schooling is desirable for entry-level candidates.

Work Environment

The facility is air-controlled, well-lit, and organized, providing a comfortable working environment. The work involves a slight smell of oil and metal, typical for a machining setting. There are 120 CNC machines at the Hanover Park facility, including 60 mills and 60 lathes, featuring various brands and G & M Code-based controllers. Employees have access to a break room with hot/cold food options.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
