Why This Role Exists

Tecomet is expanding its CNC team in Lansing, MI, and looking for motivated, detail-oriented machinists to join our high-performance production floor. As a CNC Machinist I, you'll play a key role in manufacturing critical components for the medical, aerospace, and defense industries - all while learning from experienced machinists in a clean, organized, and collaborative shop environment.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Operate CNC machines within specified tolerances following detailed work instructions
  • Perform basic tool changes, offset adjustments, and machine checks
  • Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other gauges
  • Read blueprints and verify part conformity
  • Perform hand deburring and finishing operations
  • Complete job cards and maintain accurate production records
  • Support quality, safety, and productivity goals
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and 5S standards
  • Escalate issues to leads or supervisors as needed

Machines, Controls & Tools

You'll work with:

  • Machines: CNC mills and/or lathes
  • Controls: Fanuc, Haas (varies by equipment)
  • Inspection Tools: Calipers, micrometers, indicators
  • Documentation: Job routers, digital ERP entries

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years experience operating CNC machines
  • Basic understanding of machining processes and tools
  • Ability to read blueprints and measurement tools
  • Dependability, punctuality, and attention to detail

Preferred:

  • Certificate or associate's degree in machining or manufacturing
  • Prior experience in a regulated production environment
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S
