CNC MACHINIST NEEDED - BEAVERTON at Aerotek
JOB DESCRIPTION
Mill Operator With 5 Axis Experience
The Mill Operator with 5 Axis Experience is responsible for the setup and operation of the 5 Axis CNC machines in compliance with inch and metric drawing specifications. This position requires the ability to read engineered drawings, set up and operate manual mills and lathes, troubleshoot, and perform complex machining skills.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 5 Axis CNC machines to machine flat, contoured, and formed parts to inch and metric drawing specifications.
- Act as a technical resource regarding tooling and machining capabilities.
- Evaluate and justify new tooling and machining processes.
- Communicate issues relating to work orders, programming errors, material shortages, or errors.
- Continuously focus on the reduction of material, labor, and scrap.
- Learn, comprehend, and apply manufacturing safety practices.
- Manage products and processes effectively.
- Perform minor maintenance activities as required by the preventive maintenance program.
- Participate in continued education and training, including ISO 9001, safety, blueprint reading, teamwork, and Statistical Process Control.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
- Accurately record labor time for job tracking.
- Present a professional image in accordance with company appearance standards.
- Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Promote safety in accordance with company policy.
- Mentor and train Machinist I, II, III.
- Lead large projects from start to completion.
- Interact with engineers on the design of parts.
- Advise on corrective actions that need to be taken.
- Document red lines and perform R&D work as directed.
- Full-time attendance is required.
Essential Skills
- Ability to set up and operate CNC Vertical Mill to inch and metric drawing specifications.
- Two to three years of experience or AA degree in Machine Technology.
- Good math skills, including trigonometry.
- Ability to machine various plastics and metals to.005 tolerance.
- Ability to use rotary table and divider head mill vise.
- Ability to perform tooling designs and use inspection tooling to verify dimensions.
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings, Bill of Materials, and machine codes.
- Experience in setting up manual machines using appropriate tooling and fixtures.
- Ability to operate manual mills and lathes.
- Troubleshooting skills and experience with CNC programming.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in cross-training in at least one other discipline.
- Ability to work in a team environment and contribute effectively.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle fragile products carefully, perform repetitive tasks, and demonstrate safety awareness.
- Ability to lift and carry products weighing up to 35 pounds.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tigard, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $37.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
