About the Role

James Tool Machine and Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team in Morganton, NC. This role focuses on Prototrak 3-Axis CNC Mills and Lathes in a job shop / non-production environment. The right candidate will be able to program, set up, and operate machines to produce high-precision components.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate Prototrak 3-axis CNC mills and lathes
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to machine parts accurately
• Work in a fast-paced job shop environment on low-volume, high-mix parts
• Commit to and follow all plant safety policies and procedures
• Ensure quality standards are met in alignment with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements
• Adapt to frequent changes in daily machining priorities

Requirements

• 3+ years of CNC machining experience (mills and/or lathes)
• Proficiency in manual, conversational, or CAM programming
• Experience with Mastercam preferred
• Strong understanding of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and handle changing priorities
• Willingness to work overtime as needed

Candidates must provide their own basic machinist tools, including:

• Dial/Digital Calipers (0-6")
• Micrometers (up to 3")
• 05 Indicator & Edge Finder
• 1-2-3 Blocks, Precision Parallels
• Calculator, Mallet, Adjustable Wrench
