Why This Role Exists

This role exists to support ongoing and expanding aerospace programs requiring extremely tight tolerances, complex setups, and experienced machinists who can operate with minimal supervision.

At Rave Gears & Machining, CNC Machinists play a critical role in producing mission-critical aerospace and precision gear components, where accuracy, consistency, and process control are essential.

This is not an entry-level position. It's built for machinists who want challenging work, advanced equipment, and a professional shop environment.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Perform complex CNC setups including tooling, offsets (G54, G55, etc.), probing systems, and changeovers
• Set up and operate CNC Mills, Lathes, Mill-Turn machines, and Precision Grinders
• Run multiple machines simultaneously while maintaining quality and efficiency
• Read, understand, and troubleshoot CNC programs; reset offsets and resolve alarms
• Make feeds & speeds adjustments and basic program edits per engineering guidelines
• Troubleshoot machining issues such as runout, flatness, and dimensional drift
• Perform first-article and in-process inspections, adjusting offsets as needed
• Interpret advanced blueprints, GD&T, and CMM reports
• Consistently hold tight tolerances down to 001"
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area
• Support cross-training and knowledge sharing across the shop

Machines, Controls & Equipment

You'll work with high-end, modern equipment such as:

Machines:

• Hermle C42
• Mori Seiki NLX 2500
• Mori Seiki NT5400
• Mori Seiki NL3000
• DMG Mori platforms

Inspection Tools:

• Calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators
• CMM data and reports

Materials You'll Work With

• Aluminum
• Alloy & stainless steels
• Aerospace-grade materials

What We're Looking For

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Extensive experience setting up and operating CNC Mills and/or Lathes
• Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
• Proven experience machining aerospace or similarly regulated components
• Advanced shop math skills
• Deep knowledge of tooling, cutting principles, speeds & feeds
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Proficient with CNC controls and basic computer systems
• Strong inspection skills using precision measuring instruments

Preferred (Not Required):

• CNC programming experience (basic program creation or edits)
• Experience reviewing and applying CMM data
• Multi-axis or mill-turn machining experience
• Background in aerospace manufacturing environments with strict quality standards
