JOB DESCRIPTION

CNC Operator

Our facility is known for precision, craftsmanship, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction, supporting major commercial and industrial projects across the region. The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of fabrication machinesincluding the burn table, plasma cutter, drill line, saws, shear, and press braketo process steel plate and structural materials. This role also includes rigging and moving heavy beams using overhead cranes, interpreting CAD drawings, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the burn table to process plate materials according to design specifications.
  • Select correct machine settings for optimal burning, drilling, cutting, and forming operations.
  • Operate additional shop equipment as needed, including drill press & drill line, plasma table & burn table, brake press / press brake, shear, band saw & CNC saw.
  • Transfer layout data onto materials accurately.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  • Safely rig, lift, and position heavy steel beams and plate using overhead cranes, slings, and rigging hardware.
  • Inspect rigging equipment before use and follow all safety protocols.
  • Move materials efficiently through the shop to support production flow.
  • Measure materials to ensure conformance with design specifications.
  • Read and interpret CAD drawings, symbols, notes, and cut lists.
  • Verify dimensions using tape measures, squares, calipers, and other tools (to within 1/16").
  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and compliance.

Essential Skills

  • Experience operating CNC machines (burn table, plasma cutter, drill line, CNC saw, etc.).
  • Experience operating overhead cranes and rigging heavy materials.
  • Prior work in steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with steel grades, tolerances, and fabrication processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Machine operating, overhead crane, rigging, structure, CNC, CNC operating experience.
  • Rigging, shear, press brake, saw operation, drill press, blueprint reading, burner, fabrication.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Cocoa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
