JOB DESCRIPTION

Machine Operator

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator responsible for the operation of overhead cranes and sit-down forklifts to move steel materials. The role also involves utilizing CNC machines to cut and burn metal products to specifications, requiring the ability to read and interpret blueprints and use various measuring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operate overhead cranes to move steel materials.
  • Operate sit-down forklifts for material handling.
  • Utilize CNC machines to cut and burn metal to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, including dimensions and arcs.
  • Learn and train on machinery, or have experience with oxy fuel, plasma, or other cutting methods.
  • Handle thicker gauge steel, particularly 1/4 to 4-inch thick carbon steel.
  • Use grinders to prepare metal plates for machining.
  • Take inventory of materials as needed.
  • Label incoming and outgoing products.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in machine operation and blueprint reading.
  • Experience in heavy industrial steel environments.
  • Attention to detail in manufacturing settings.
  • Ability to use measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC burn tables.
  • Knowledge of oxy fuel, plasma, and other metal cutting techniques.

Work Environment

Work on the manufacturing floor alongside machine operators, welders, and maintenance staff. The environment can be dirty, with varying temperatureswarmer in the summer and cooler in the winter. Steel toe boots are required for safety.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of University Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
