JOB DESCRIPTION
Mastercam Cnc Programmer
This full-time, on-site position involves creating and optimizing CNC programs, performing first piece setups, and supporting both milling and mill turn operations. The role requires expertise with Mastercam (4 and 5 axis) and the ability to communicate effectively with operators, engineering, and inspection teams. You will ensure smooth workflow, accurate setups, and high-quality output across a diverse mix of defense and aerospace components.
$40 - $55/hr - potential for contract to hire and DP
Responsibilities
- Review technical drawings, models, and specifications for manufacturability.
- Program CNC machines using Mastercam, with a focus on 4 and 5 axis milling and mill turn lathes.
- Perform setups and complete first article inspections for each operation.
- Operate machines during periods of lower programming demand.
- Support operators by clarifying intent, improving communication, and validating programs.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, inspection, and assembly to ensure product quality.
- Ensure machined components meet cycle time and cost targets.
- Assist with tooling strategies, workholding, and process improvements.
- Complete root cause and corrective action reports when required.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to team members.
- Help stabilize and support the hybrid/toolmaker and special projects area.
- Maintain compliance with ITAR and company quality standards.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of CNC programming and machining experience.
- Strong Mastercam experience, including 4 and 5 axis milling and mill turn lathes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
- Ability to review 3D models (SolidWorks) and 2D drawings (AutoCAD).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Commitment to meeting internal and customer schedule requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with Epicor ERP is a plus.
- Security check and ITAR compliance required (DT clearance may be needed).

Work Environment
Work in a machine shop setting with shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with overtime as needed. The environment emphasizes collaboration and precision, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
